Our funeral insurance plan pays cash for funeral and other expenses anywhere in the world and is accepted by funeral directors everywhere. Your insurance coverage can include an accidental death benefit of up to $100,000*. We know that accidents happen suddenly and unexpectedly. In the event of accidental death, this amount would be paid to your beneficiary in addition to your final expense life insurance coverage.
Veterans Burial Benefits
We stand with you, because you stood for us.
Honorably discharged veterans of the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, The Korean Conflict Period, the Vietnam Era, and certain peace time veterans are eligible.
As a veteran, will the government take care of me?
Only 90% of all veterans may qualify for a plot allowance of $150.00 to $300.00. If you are a veteran receiving compensation for a war related injury the you could receive up to $1,500.00. The government provides only a small allowance toward the cost of your funeral, the rest of the final expense is placed upon you loved ones.
What is the eligibility for the funeral allowance?
As of October 1st, 1981 the $300.00 funeral expense will be payable only if you are:
receiving a V.A. Compensation
receiving a V.A. Pension
Properly admitted to a hospital or nursing care/domiciliary care at a Veterans Administration facility.
What is the most I will receive for a cemetery expense?
The payment shall not exceed $300.00 toward veterans burial expenses. It can be paid to a cemetery or to the person who handles the expenses of the funeral.
Does the allowance affect the plot/marker?
No.
As a veteran, will I qualify for a headstone or a marker?
Both are available for honorably discharged deceased veterans of war time or peace time service. This is provided by the government at no charge and is shipped to the consignee designated. Grave site markers are automatically ordered within three days of burial. Payment for inscription is required prior to the manufacturing of the marker.
Is there a time limit on when the claim must be filed?
Yes, claims for non service-connected burial allowance must be filed within 2 years after burial or cremation. There is no time limit for filing a claim for service-connected benefits.
As a veteran, am I entitled to be buried on a National Cemetery?
Yes, providing there is space available. The only exception is Arlington. Arlington is reserved for persons dying on active duty, retired military personnel, recipients of the medal of honor, and those who have held elective office in the government, served on the Supreme Court or in the Cabinet.
